If you are a regular RDP (Remote Desktop) user, we are sure you would have encountered this error stating – “Remote session was disconnected because there are no Remote Desktop client access licenses available for this computer. Please contact the server administrator“. In this post today, we will look at resolving this issue by doing a simple tweak to your registry.
To fix the Remote session was disconnected because there are no Remote Desktop client access licenses available for this computer error you need to open up your registry (Type regedit in your Run box and hit enter) and navigate to the below key and delete it.
Remember to take a back-up of your registry before deleting the key, better safe than sorry.
Key to be deleted: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSLicensing
Post deleting this key exit the registry editor and try connecting to Remote Desktop (RDP) using the credentials provided by us. If you get a “The remote computer disconnected the session because of an error in the licensing protocol” error, just right click on the remote desktop connection app icon on your machine and click on Run As Administrator.
The error should now be resolved.
